When Honda launched their new 250 bike, there were some disappointed on consumer expectation. Some people said that the new engine will not compete Ninja 250R, because of CBR engine configuration. Others said the new engine is lack of power compare to old CBR250RR which was use inline 4 engine.
But the HRC new project will reveal the reason why CBR250R only use single cylinder engine. From Honda website we can get a little information about the new HRC machine nicknamed NRS 250, with NRS stand for Next Racing Standard. This is why Honda equipped the new CBR250 with a single cylinder engine. This engine will be the platform for their new race bike on moto3 class. As we know that 2012 will be the new era of 250cc class, replacing the 125cc 2 stroke class on World Grand Prix Racing.
From my point of view, there will always a purpose when Honda build new product for their market, and i think this is a smart move from Honda to dominate the moto3 class, although it called a “jump start” anyway.
